THE REMEMBRANCE TABLE MEANINGS
Set for one, it is our way of symbolizing the fact that members of our profession of arms are missing from our midst.
They are unable to be with us this today and so we remember them in this way.
The Red Ribbon is to remind us of the blood they shed defending our country and our way of life.
The candle is lit, symbolizing the upward reach of their unconquerable spirit.
The slice of lemon is to remind us of their bitter fate.
The pile of salt is symbolic of the tears shed by the families whose husbands, sons, daughters and brothers did not return.
The Glass is inverted, the chair is empty, because they cannot be with us today.
We, who served with them
and called them comrades, depended upon their skills and dedication. Do not forsake their memories; pray for them and always remember them.
Please remember our fellow sailors who have recently passed away.
